In the Holidays I went to the beach with my dad, sister and brother. We travelled by car. When we got to the beach, it was very dirty and had a lot of shells. My sister and I collected a lot of shells. Then my brother and sister had a swimming competition. My brother won, he was like a champion swimmer. After that, my sister and I had race on the sand. The sand was very soft so it was hard to run on it.
Later on my dad brother and sister went to buy food to eat. When I ate,I ate slow like a turtle. After that we went home. When we got home my dad told us to have a water fight so the sand would come of our skin. When we first started the water was cold as ice. While we were having the water fight,I got very cold and tired so I went inside and put on my warm clothes on. Then I felt warm and fuzzy like a teddy bear.
I hope we go to the same beach next time so we can collect a lot of shells and have a swimming competition.
WALT understand and use descriptive language in my holiday recount.
I know I can do this when I use adjectives to describe.
I am a year 7 student at Saint Patrick's School in Auckland, N.Z. I am in Room 8 and my teacher is Mrs Dines.

Going to the Beach!
In the holidays, I went to the beach with my family. When we got to the beach we wanted to play on the park first. I played on the slide and it was so much fun. Then my dad took my mum home because it was raining. My dad said that we needed to wait at the beach until he comes back.
When my dad came back, he told us to swim some more. When we got in the water, my dad
and I went to the deep end. It was very deep so hopped on my dad's back because I felt
scared.
Then it was time to go home. I had a fun time at the beach. Next time, I would like to go to a different
beach.
Learning intention: We are learning to use the structure of a recount correctly.
Success criteria: I know I can do this when I write the orientation, followed by the body and then the conclusion.
