Technicraft!

Combining my art work with technology!
Today’s learning was about technology. Mr Nair, gave each table a laptop, because we were going to research our favourite cartoon character or singer and transform it into a magnet. We chose our photo and sent it to Mr Nair, so that he could print it out.

My favourite character that I was going to do was Lisa Simpson. After that, we were to grab a medium size piece of cardboard and draw our picture onto the cardboard, but a bigger version. Then we used a cardboard burner to burn the outlines of our drawing.

Later, we were to grab a painting tray and our choice of paint to use in our picture. The colours I I used were, white for the necklace, orange for her dress and yellow for her skin and hair. As I began to paint, I was struggling because it was difficult to manipulate and control the paint on the brush, and it kept getting paint in the wrong place.  It was necessary to repeat the painting to improve the quality of my work.

Wow! I can't believe we met Katie Glynn!

St Patrick's school had a special visitor named Katie Glynn. Katie Glynn is a hockey player. Katie is 28 years old and her birthday is on March 14 1989. Katie started playing hockey in 2009 when she was 19 years old. She competed in the New Zealand’s national field hockey team.  Katie is now retired due to back injury and works as a coach. One of Katie’s best friends is Richie Mccaw’s wife whose name is Gemma Mccaw. Katie showed us some pictures and two videos of her playing hockey in some of the tournaments. She also showed us a video of her scoring the last goal in her last hockey game. Everyone began to clap after she showed us the video. We were able to ask her some questions. We asked her so many questions that we couldn’t stop.

After that, we said, ‘‘Thank you!’’ to Katie for coming to our school and went back to class. Her last advice to us was to Dream Big!

We are learning to write a recount of what we learnt about Katie Glynn.

Respect your parents!

Did you know that each of the seasons have a colour?
