Going to K-mart was fun!

During the weekends, my sisters, dad and I went to Kmart to buy some clothes and shoes for my sister for her school camp. Before we left, we had to get changed and wash our faces and brush out teeth. After that, we left the house. We went in my dad’s small and grey car. I was very happy and excited about going to Kmart.

It took us 27 minutes to get there. While my dad was driving us to Kmart, my sister Heneliena and I played paper, scissors and rock in the car. Heneliena and I had a lot of fun playing paper, scissors and rock and my sister kept winning.

After a while, we arrived at our destination. Heneliena and I slowly hopped out of the car and waited patiently on the footpath for my other sisters to come out. After they came out of the car, we walked inside the shop. My sister quickly grabbed a trolley for her to put the clothing that she chooses into.

Next, I walked with my sister to go and pick out some clothes and shoes for her to take to her school camp. I asked my sister if she wanted to take some shorts to her school camp and she said, ‘‘Yes!’’ So I took some shorts to my sister for her to put into the trolley. Then I asked my sister if I could buy some boots, jeans and a T-shirt for her and she said, ‘‘Yes!’’ again.

After my sister bought all the clothes and the shoes that she needed, we went to buy headphones for my brother because he wanted some. Then we went to go and pay for them at the counter. While my dad and my older sister was paying for the clothes, shoes and headphones,  my other sister and I waited for them in the car.

Then we went back home. I had a great time going to Kmart with my dad and my sisters. I hope we get to go to Kmart again because there were a lot of things at Kmart that I wanted to look at.

Did you know that your heart is located in your chest?

What is a heart?
A heart is one of the most important part of your body. Your heart is located in your chest. It pumps blood around our body through blood vessels.

Why do hearts beat?
Our hearts beat because it helps us to breath and keeps us alive. The beating sounds that you can hear or feel are from valves in your heart as they open and close to pump blood in and out.

If you are excising or performing an activity, your heart will normally beat fast.

Learning intention: We are learning to write an explanation.
Success criteria: I know I can do this when I follow the correct structure of an explanation, starting with an introduction, followed by an explanation sequence and a concluding sentence about why hearts beat.
