Do you like to go shopping with your family?
On Sunday 27th of November, my dad and I went to Pak’nSave to buy some groceries that we needed and some school lunch. Before we left, I had to put on my jacket and my shoes on because it was raining outside. After that, we left in my dad’s small and grey car.
When we got there, we both hopped out of the car and went inside. I went to grab a trolley for us to put all the groceries in. Then we walked around to look for the groceries that we needed. First my dad went to get the drink bottles because it was the easiest thing to find in Pak’nSave.
Then we went looking for the other groceries items that we needed. We bought some Le Snack, foil, crackers, chocolate chip cookies, shampoo, hair conditioner, tooth paste and rice. I asked my dad if we had missed buying anything and he said, ‘‘No’’ so we went to pay for all our groceries at the counter.
My dad paid for the groceries while I was waiting for him at the car. After that, my dad unlocked the car and we both quickly put the groceries into the car. Then we went to the dairy to buy 10 cans of tuna for our lunch for school. After that, we went back home.

Going to the Laundromat can be a bit boring!
During the weekends, my mum, older sisters and I went to the Laundromat to wash some clothes and our school uniforms for school. Before we left the house, I had to help my older sister to put all the dirty clothes into the bag. Then we had to wait for my mum to finish getting changed. After that, we left in our dad’s small and grey car.
I felt very excited about going there, because I like wearing clean clothes there. When we got there, my sister parked the car and we took the clothes inside the Laundromat. My mum and I put two bags of clothes into one of the machine, then we put the last bag in another washing machine because they didn’t all fit in the one machine. Then my mum went to go and get some coins to put into the coin slots for the machines to operate. We put in four dollars each into the machines. Then I pressed the start button and then we waited.
While we were waiting, my mum gave my sister and I some money each to go and buy some food from the shops to eat. My sister didn’t know what to buy so she bought a bag of chips instead. I bought two pies for my mum and I to enjoy. I also bought a big bottle of water just in case my sister or my mum got thirsty.
A little while later, the washing was finished. We put the wet clothes back into the bags and took it to the dryer. Then my mum told my sister to put the school uniforms in one machine and all the other clothes go together in another machine. After that, my mum put another four dollars each into the machine, then I pressed the start button again. After that, we had to wait again.
While we were waiting my, older sister and I went and listened to music in the car because we were bored, and my mum waited in the Laundromat for the clothes to dry. Some of the songs that were playing on the radio were my sister’s favourite songs. After we listened to music for a little while, we went back inside to check how much longer to go.
We looked and it’s was five more minutes left, so we went back to the car to listen to some more music.
After we listened to more music, we went back inside to check to see if the clothes were ready and they were. So I went to grab the bag and we quickly put the clothes in. After that, we went back home.
I had a great and happy time going to the Laundromat with my mum and older sister. Next time I hope we bring more clothes to wash because my sister and I listened to our favourite songs together.

Mmm, those oreos taste delicious!
During the weekends, my dad, sisters, brother and I went to Pak’nSave to buy some groceries and lunch for school. Before we left, we had to wait for my sisters to get ready because they took forever to get changed. One they were ready, they hurried to the car and we left the house.
Before we went to Pak‘nSave, my dad drove us to the bank to check how much money he had in his credit card. After he found out, we straight away drove to Pa‘nSave. Once my dad parked the car we all hopped out of the car and went inside the shop.
My brother and I saw a lot of tasty and delicious food. I ran and grabbed a trolley to put all our groceries in. We bought some tomato sauce, mayonnaise, fish, two bottles of fizzy drink, lollies, chocolate bar, oreos, crackers, bread, cream, butter, juice, water bottles, chocolate chip cookies, peanut cookies, baby wipes and nappies.
After we bought all the groceries that we needed. We went to pay for them at the counter. My dad paid for the groceries while my brother and I waited for him beside the counter. After everything was paid for, we took the groceries to the car and quickly put them in the boot.

Celebrating Guy Fawkes Day is fun!
On Saturday 5th of November, my dad, brothers, sisters and I celebrated Guy Fawkes Day with some fireworks. I was very excited. Before we lit up some fireworks, we watched the fireworks from the other houses because my dad was still asleep, so we had to wait for him to wake up.
I loved looking at the fireworks because it was very pretty and colourful. My youngest brother didn’t come outside because he was really scared and frightened of the fireworks, so he watched the fireworks through the windows inside our house.
When my dad woke up, he went to the car to get the fireworks. Then we began lighting the fireworks. My dad brought the sparklers for us to light up for my younger siblings, and we lit up some sparklers for ourselves. My little sister felt scared when she was holding the sparklers so she gave it to me instead to hold.
After that, my older brother Kolio lit up some fireworks. It looked so cool when it went up into the sky. Kolio only lit up some of the fireworks, because we had to save some of them for the next day. My brother Kolio also lit some of the firework bombs.
When Kolio first lit one of the bombs, he almost hurt himself because he was too close. After the first bomb ended, we bought some chicken and chips and ate it while we were watching the fireworks around our house.
I had a great time lighting up fireworks with my dad, brothers and sisters. Next time I hope we get to light up all the fireworks, because it’s so exciting to watch them explode in the sky.
Learning intention: We are learning to write a recount.
Success criteria: I know I can do this when I use appropriate adjectives to describe my recount of celebrating Guy Fawkes Day with my family.
